The role and its duties
The role is a technical support role for the national dealer network. Its primary function is to undertake the following:

  • Investigate technical product concerns and work with Dealers to identify solutions
  • Submit "Technical Quality Reports" to Mazda Motor Corporation as required
  • Dealer Technical support, assistance and visits as necessary to provide quality customer service
  • Manage incoming customer product inquiries
  • Process Warranty Prior Approvals (PAR) for Dealers
  • Conduct Technical Service Training as required

A sample of duties follows:

  • Manage issues relating to Mazda product, prior to and after public launch, including technical liaison with manufacturer and provide direct technical support to Dealers
  • Research and prepare any Technical Service Bulletins
  • Assist in diagnosing vehicle concerns and advise on repair process
  • Investigate product concerns raised by Dealers, Vendors or customers and liaise with product source for resolution
  • Assist Campaign Manager as and when required
  • Process all prior approvals from Dealers, inspecting any parts returned to identify probable cause of failures
  • Conduct Dealership visits to Mazda Dealers
  • Maintain relationship with dealership key staff
  • Assist with general service and warranty administration issue

The essential skills required

  • He, or she will need to hold an automotive trade qualification equivalent to the National Certificate in automotive engineering level 4, or offshore equivalent
  • The role requires the ability of the person appointed to be able to diagnose technical faults in some detail so automotive technical skills are essential
  • Good general administrative and IT skills are needed
  • It would also be helpful if some previous frontline experience was held such as with a national distributor, or in dealership Service Advisor, Workshop Controller, or Workshop Foreperson roles. This should not preclude diagnostic technicians with good people skills
  • Clearly strong Mazda technical expertise would be advantageous but not essential if you have strong general diagnostic skills and technical competency
