Most people are aware of the exciting government announcement made this morning with regards to fast tracking residency for those migrants already in New Zealand.
Click here to find the news release.
It would appear that almost all of the automotive industry migrants currently in New Zealand are likely to be eligible to apply, as long as they are currently earning $27 an hour more OR have been in NZ 3 years.
Those who have already applied for Skilled Migrant Category or Residence from Work should be able to apply for the Residence 2021 visa from December 1. These people will receive a letter from Immigration New Zealand by the end of October if they are eligible.
Also able to apply in December will be those who have submitted an Expression of Interest and have included a child aged 17 or over.
All others will be able to apply from March 1 2022. There will be priority processing with critical health workers, occupations requiring registration, specified primary sector jobs and those with occupations on the Long Term Skill Shortage list jumping to the head of the queue. In our industry this includes Diesel Mechanics and Auto Electricians.
Police clearance certificates and medicals will not be required unless requested.
